The Khasi Students’ Union has voiced its dissatisfaction over a meeting convened by the Tourism Department to deliberate on the proposed entry and exit point at Umling in Ri-Bhoi district, pointing to the absence of other key government departments.

The meeting, convened through the Commissioner and Secretary, was confined to discussions on the entry and exit point at the Felicitation Centre in Umling.

Speaking to the media, KSU Assistant General Secretary, Pynshai Rani said the meeting failed to meet the organisation’s expectations, as other departments concerned with the issue were not brought on board.

Rani said the outcome of the deliberations would now have to be placed before the KSU leadership, including those currently in judicial custody, before the organisation takes a final call on its next course of action.
