OPERATION SINDOOR: MEA HIGHLIGHTS INDIA'S COUNTERTERROR PUSH AMID TENSIONS WITH PAKISTAN

India has issued a strong statement on counterterrorism and its ongoing engagement with Pakistan. In a press briefing on 13 May, 2025, Ministry of External Affairs official spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal provided key updates on Operation Sindoor, India’s latest counterterror initiative.
He confirmed that the operation is focused on dismantling terror infrastructure and ensuring national security remains uncompromised.
On the situation along the Line of Control, the spokesperson stated that the ceasefire agreement remains intact, but stressed the importance of mutual respect and adherence to the terms from both sides.
Turning to Jammu and Kashmir, the MEA reiterated India’s consistent stance—stating that the region is an integral part of the country and that the matter remains strictly internal, with no room for third-party involvement.
In a significant development, India welcomed the designation of The Resistance Front as a global terrorist organization, calling it a validation of India’s concerns about cross-border terrorism operating from Pakistan-controlled areas.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson touched upon the Indus Waters Treaty, indicating that while India has respected its commitments, there are growing concerns over Pakistan’s misuse of the agreement’s provisions.
And finally, addressing speculation about international mediation, the MEA made it clear—there is no role for the United States or any third party in the India-Pakistan dialogue. All issues, the MEA said, must be resolved bilaterally.
