A deep pall of grief has fallen over the locality of Nongrah Nonglum in Shillong, following the tragic discovery of four-year-old Insaphira Lyngdoh Mawnai. The child, who went missing from her home on Sunday morning, was found dead the next day.

On Monday morning, construction workers stumbled upon her body inside an under-construction house in the area. Reports indicate that the remains were recovered from a muddy spot, with her head covered by a stone.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, as frantic searches conducted on Sunday failed to trace her whereabouts. What unfolded a day later has left the neighbourhood in mourning.
