GREEN GOALS AND GIRL POWER: MEGHALAYA CM SPARKS A DUAL REVOLUTION

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma launched key climate initiatives in North Garo Hills to promote climate action and adaptation. In the presence of He unveiled the plaques of various initiatives in presence of PHE Minister Marcuise Marak and Social Welfare Minister Paul Lyngdoh and MLAs Marthon Sangma and Rupert Momin. The Chief Minister also inaugurated a girls’ hostel at Mendipathar and a tribal hostel at Resubelpara.

He informed that the ₹500 crore ADB-supported Climate Adaptive Community-Based Water Harvesting Project would be implemented across all districts to improve water sustainability. Additionally, he launched the ₹47.19 crore “Megh Adapt Pay” project to support afforestation, forest conservation, and agricultural land development through community-government collaboration.

The Mendipathar Girls' Hostel, costing ₹3 crore, will be run by Awe SHG, while the ₹2.5 crore Tribal Girls' Hostel at Resubelpara will be managed by Ramke Memorial School. The CM said the hostels would ensure safe accommodation for girls from remote areas.

He also noted a rise in SSLC pass percentage to 96%, crediting the “CM Impact” guidebook for assisting students, especially those lacking access to study materials. He praised the students’ performance and expressed satisfaction over the results.
