BSF Meghalaya seizes contraband items and also foils cattle smuggling attempt near the International Border


On 02 May 2025, acting on specific information, vigilant troops of BSF Meghalaya in collaboration with local police apprehended two Indian national along with two vehicles loaded with contraband items worth more than Rs 03 lakhs intended to be smuggled into Bangladesh through the International border of East Khasi Hills. Accordingly, BSF personnel apprehended the individuals and seized both the vehicle and the contraband. The apprehended individuals, along with the seized items were handed over to Police Post Danger for further legal action.
In a separate operation, BSF troops foiled an attempt to smuggle cattle by rescuing 12 cattle near the international border. These cattle were loaded in two vehicles transported by road to the border area with the intention of smuggling them into Bangladesh. The seized cattle and vehicles were handed over to concern police station for further necessary action. The BSF remains steadfast in its commitment to securing the nation’s borders and preventing all forms of illegal activity.
