India Carries Out 'Operation Sindoor' Targeting Terror Camps in Pakistan and POJK

In a significant development on the national security front, the Government of India reported that its armed forces conducted a precise military operation on Wednesday targeting terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (POJK). The operation, codenamed Operation Sindoor, was said to have been launched in response to the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which resulted in the deaths of 25 Indian citizens and one Nepali national.

As per the official statement issued by the Press Information Bureau on May 7, the operation lasted approximately 25 minutes and struck nine specific locations. The identified targets included areas such as Markaz Taiba Murikde and Sarjal in Sialkot, Pakistan, as well as Bhimber and Kotli Abbas in POJK. These locations were reportedly being used as training grounds by terrorist operatives, including individuals linked to Ajmal Kasab and David Headley, both of whom were involved in past attacks on Indian soil.

The government conveyed that Operation Sindoor was a focused and carefully calibrated mission, emphasizing that no Pakistani military installations were targeted. Officials stated that India had exercised significant restraint in both the selection of targets and the method of execution. The objective, according to the statement, was to dismantle terrorist infrastructure without escalating tensions in the region.

Authorities reiterated that the action was in line with India’s stated policy of zero tolerance toward terrorism and served as a direct response to cross-border terror threats. They added that the government remained committed to holding those responsible for the Pahalgam attack accountable and that the operation represented a concrete step toward fulfilling that pledge.

The Indian Armed Forces reportedly executed the mission with precision, ensuring minimal collateral impact while sending a strong message about India’s readiness to act against threats to its national security.

Further details about the extent of damage and any potential casualties on the ground have not been officially disclosed.

The Ministry of Defence has assured that the situation is being closely monitored and that India remains committed to regional stability even as it defends itself against acts of terrorism.
