The Director of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Saloni Verma, on Monday said that commercial LPG supply to Meghalaya had been increased to 70 percent of the normal allocation following a recent cut.
She stated that the earlier 20 percent reduction, imposed from March 11 due to disruptions linked to the Middle East situation, had reduced daily supply in the state from around 1,000 cylinders to 200–250, affecting hotels, restaurants and dhabas.

With the revised allocation, supply has improved to about 300–400 cylinders per day in recent days, she added.

Verma maintained that domestic LPG distribution remained unaffected, with 5,000–7,000 cylinders being supplied daily.

She also clarified that long queues at distribution points were due to ongoing e-KYC verification for new connections aimed at preventing duplication.
She urged the public to avoid spreading rumours of shortages and said monitoring committees at district and state levels were closely tracking the situation.
