Co-Chairman of the Law Commission and former MLA and MDC of Nongkrem constituency, Lambor Malniang, on Friday inaugurated the 24th Annual School Sports of Mawshabuit Presbyterian Secondary School by hoisting the flag and declaring the event open.

The programme was attended by the Secretary of the School Managing Committee, church elders, parents, teachers, and students, who contributed to the vibrant atmosphere of the event.

The sports meet began with a march past and a drill display by sub-junior students, followed by various athletic events.

Competitions included 50-metre races for sub-junior boys and girls, 100-metre races for sub-junior, junior, and senior categories, and 200-metre races for junior and senior participants. A 400-metre race for senior students, 4x50 metre relay for sub-juniors, and 4x100 metre relay races for junior and senior categories were also held.

Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Malniang stated that it was his first visit to the village, noting that although the area does not fall under his usual jurisdiction, he attended the programme in the spirit of community ties.

He commended the school for its strong academic performance, particularly in the matriculation examinations, and appreciated the selection of its teachers for evaluation of examination papers.
He also urged students to respect and obey their teachers, describing them as second parents who play a crucial role in shaping their future after being entrusted with their education by families.
