Amid rumours circulating in recent days about a possible shortage of cooking gas in the state, the Meghalaya Government on Thursday assured that the supply of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) remains adequate.

Speaking to the media on March 12, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Methodius Dkhar said there is sufficient LPG stock in the state and urged the public not to panic.

The minister informed that a meeting had already been convened with district administrations across the state along with LPG supply companies to review the situation and ensure smooth distribution.

He appealed to the public not to be misled by the rumours or rush to book gas cylinders unnecessarily. Dkhar also warned that strict action would be taken against individuals found illegally selling LPG cylinders.
