CM CONRAD SANGMA DISTRIBUTES CRICKET KITS AND ANNOUNCES DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS FOR SANMER

Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma visited Sanmer village for the first time on May 14, 2025, where he distributed cricket equipment to several local teams. The event was hosted by the Sanmer Sports, Social, and Cultural Club. The teams that received cricket kits included the Sanmer, Sawmer, ½, Mawklot, and Umlyngka cricket teams.
The Chief Minister’s visit was reportedly inspired by a chance encounter with young cricketers during a trek, where he had observed their enthusiasm for the sport and their lack of proper equipment. Following this, he had promised to support them, which eventually led to the distribution of the kits.
During his address at the event, he emphasized the significance of supporting youth in sports and music and expressed that he found great satisfaction in witnessing the passion and energy of young people. He reiterated the government’s dedication to creating platforms for youth development.
He also announced several developmental initiatives for the Sanmer community. These included the approval of a public address system, financial assistance for the Sanmer Sports and Cultural Club, and support for constructing a community hall and a water reservoir.
The event was attended by local leaders, members of the Dorbar Shnong Sanmer, and residents, reflecting the government’s ongoing focus on grassroots development and youth empowerment in the state.
